Generating Advice
Sterling analyzes household facts and generates personalized financial recommendations. This guide walks you through generating advice for a household.
Fact Readiness
Before generating advice all Fact categories must be marked as Ready. The categories are: People, Income, Expenses, Investments, Real Estate, Liabilities, Insurance, and Other.
Toggling Categories to Ready
Navigate to the Facts section and toggle each category to Ready when you've entered the relevant data. The Generate Advice button remains disabled until all categories are ready.
Generating Advice
- Open the household and click Advice in the navigation
- Review the Fact Status table to confirm all categories show as Ready
- Click the Generate Advice button
- Wait. Sterling takes between 7 and 15 minutes to generate the unique advice set for the household.
Sterling analyzes all household data and generates recommendations across all advice topics. A progress tracker shows the current status during generation.
Reviewing Your Advice
Once generation completes, Sterling displays a comprehensive list of recommendations tailored to the household. Each Advice Card includes the opportunity, estimated value of the benefits, and a timeframe for when those benefits are realized.

Advice Cards contain extensive details about the opportunity, including eligigbility requirements, the household facts, and how the estimated value was computed.
