Entering Facts
A Fact is any piece of client data in Sterling. They look and feel very similar to how facts work in older financial software you've used, but with one major distinction.
In historical software, understanding facts and creating advice was the job of the advisor. Sterling works differently. The platform analyzes the Facts to create the advice for you.
To accomplish this, the Facts must be accurate.
Facts Matter More Than Before
High quality Facts lead to high quality advice.
Introducing Fact Status
Not all facts are equal. Sometimes you know a value is accurate. Other times, you're working with estimates or missing information entirely. In order to generate accurate advice, Sterling needs to know the difference between a Fact that you know, and a Fact that is assumed or estimated. To solve for this, we've created the Fact Status system.
Every Fact has a status: Confirmed, Assumed, or Incomplete. This status tells Sterling how much to trust the data and directly affects the advice it generates. Confirmed facts produce confident recommendations. Assumed facts generate advice flagged for verification. Incomplete facts flag areas where additional information is required.
Understanding the Fact Status system is essential to getting the most out of Sterling. (Don't worry, it's easy.)
