Managing Users

Firm Admins can invite team members, assign roles, and remove users from Sterling. All user management happens in the Settings page under Manage Users.

Firm Admin Access Required

Only Firm Admins can access the Manage Users section. Standard users will not see this option in Settings.

Inviting New Users

  1. Navigate to Settings from the profile menu
  2. Click the Invite User button
  3. Enter the first name, last name, and email for each person you want to invite
  4. Click Send Invites to deliver the invitation emails

Invitees receive an email with instructions to join your firm. Until they accept, their status shows as Invite Pending in the user table.

Firm-Wide Roles

Every user has a firm-wide role that determines their access level across Sterling.

RoleAccess Level
Firm AdminFull access to all households, settings, and user management
Standard UserAccess only to households they have been assigned

To change a user's role, select the new role from the dropdown in the Firmwide Permission column and click Save.

Keep Multiple Admins

We recommend having at least two Firm Admins. This ensures someone can always manage permissions if one admin is unavailable.

Removing Users

To remove a user from your firm:

  1. Find the user in the Manage Users table
  2. Click the options menu (three dots) in the Actions column
  3. Select Delete User
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Permanent Action

Deleting a user removes them from your firm permanently. They will lose access to all households immediately. This action cannot be undone.
