Setting Up Your Integrations

Sterling connects to your email and meeting platforms. This guide walks you through activating Microsoft Outlook and the Notetaker integrations.

Accessing the Integrations Page

  1. Click Integrations in the main navigation menu
  2. You'll see a grid of available integrations
  3. Each card shows connection status and a setup button

Connecting Microsoft Outlook

The Outlook integration syncs your email, calendar, and contacts. Once connected, client communications appear automatically in household interaction histories.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Find the Microsoft Outlook card on the Integrations page
  2. Click the Setup Connection button
  3. A Microsoft sign-in window will appear
  4. Enter your Microsoft account credentials
  5. Review the permissions and click Accept
  6. You'll return to Sterling automatically

The Outlook card now shows a green status indicator. Your email and calendar are connected.

What Gets Synced

Sterling imports emails and calendar events related to your clients. It matches communications to households based on email addresses.

Connecting the Notetaker

The Notetaker automatically joins your meetings and creates transcripts. It works with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet—all from one setup.

Credit Requirement

Notetaker requires at least one credit in your firm's account. Contact your administrator if you see an insufficient credits message.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Find the Notetaker card on the Integrations page
  2. Click the Setup Connection button
  3. If prompted, sign in with your Microsoft account and accept permissions
  4. A setup dialog will appear showing the three meeting platforms

Naming Your Notetaker

The Notetaker joins meetings as a participant. You can customize the name that appears to attendees.

  1. In the setup dialog, find the Notetaker Name field
  2. Enter a name (for example: "Acme Wealth Notetaker")
  3. This name will be visible to all meeting participants
  4. Click Connect Platforms to complete setup

The dialog shows green checkmarks as each platform connects. Click Done when complete.

Changing the Name Later

You can edit the Notetaker name anytime. Click the pencil icon on the Notetaker card to update it.

How It Works

Once connected, the Notetaker monitors your calendar. It automatically joins scheduled meetings and records transcripts. Transcripts appear in the relevant household's Interactions section.

Disconnecting an Integration

You can disconnect an integration at any time.

  1. Go to the Integrations page
  2. Find the connected integration card
  3. Click the Disconnect button
  4. Confirm when prompted

Disconnecting stops future syncing. Previously imported data remains in Sterling.

Notetaker Disconnect

Disconnecting the Notetaker stops it from joining all meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet) at once.
