Workspaces
A Workspace is a dedicated area within a task for notes, guidance, and supporting materials. Every task, step, or substep can have its own workspace. Use workspaces to keep detailed instructions and context alongside your work.

Early Access Feature
Workspaces are in the early stages of development. Current functionality focuses on notes and guidance. Significant enhancements are planned that will dramatically improve advisor productivity.
Current Capabilities
Open a workspace by clicking into any task and selecting the workspace icon. Inside, you can add and edit notes specific to that work item.
- Notes: Write detailed instructions, reminders, or context for the task
- Guidance: View or add advisory guidance relevant to the work
- Partners: Access links to partner tools and resources
Changes save automatically. Your notes persist and remain available whenever you return to the task.
Now Available: Automate Task
Workspaces now include Automate Task — click it and Sterling researches the household and writes a step-by-step completion plan directly into your Notes. It's the first of the AI capabilities described below.
The Vision Ahead
Workspaces will evolve into intelligent hubs that enable Sterling to assist with task completion. We envision workspaces holding the context needed for AI-powered automation.
Planned capabilities include:
- Document Attachments: Link custodial forms, statements, and supporting files directly to tasks
- E-Signature Integration: Initiate and track signature requests without leaving Sterling
- Form Pre-fill: Automatically populate custodial and account forms using household data
- AI Task Completion: Let Sterling draft communications, prepare paperwork, and complete routine steps
As these capabilities roll out, workspaces will become central to how you execute client work. The context you add today prepares your tasks for tomorrow's automation.
