Reference Data Overview

Reference Data provides current tax tables, contribution limits, Medicare premiums, and other regulatory figures. Sterling maintains this data and updates it annually as new figures are released.

What Reference Data Includes

  • Federal and state income tax brackets
  • Capital gains tax rates by filing status
  • IRA and employer retirement plan contribution limits
  • Required minimum distribution tables
  • Medicare premium schedules and income-related adjustments
  • Gift and estate tax exclusion amounts

Access Reference Data from the profile menu. Use the search bar at the top of the page to quickly find specific tables. Each table displays data for the current tax year with options to view historical years.

Year Selection

Most tables default to the current tax year. When available, use the year selector to compare prior years or review upcoming changes.

How Sterling Uses Reference Data

When generating advice, Sterling automatically applies current limits, brackets, and thresholds to each household's situation. You do not need to look up figures manually. The reference tables are available here for verification and client education purposes.

Data Sources

Every table includes source citations from the IRS, SSA, or CMS. Click the Sources link beneath any table to view the official publications Sterling references.
